The Greater Bay Area Cup Youth Sports Tournament (GBA Cup) returned to the Kindervarsity Hub in Panyu, Guangzhou, with renewed enthusiasm and energy! The event was hosted earlier by Kindervarsity Hub, organised by Pacific Pine Sports, and sponsored by CTF Education Group (CTFEG).
Building on the success of its inaugural tournament in 2023, this year’s GBA Cup welcomed over 600 young athletes from some 30 schools and sport alliances across Hong Kong, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Dongguan, Zhuhai, Huizhou and Shanghai. Participants competed in basketball, football, tennis, golf and squash, demonstrating excellent skills and sportsmanship.
Integrating Sports and Education
The GBA Cup aims to serve as a new benchmark for sporting events promoting athletic talents in the region. “By hosting the GBA Cup, the Kindervarsity Hub explores an innovative approach to integrating sports and education,” said Ms. Jennifer Ma, Vice President of the Kindervarsity Hub. “This forms part of the Hub’s mission to create unique, future ready education experiences that inspire, equip, and prepare K-12 students for a dynamic future.”
The GBA Cup 2024 showcased incredible talent across the region, with Hong Kong schools delivering outstanding performances! Students from DSC International School (DSC) in Hong Kong under CTF Education Group, in particular, stood out, achieving top results in squash and tennis tournaments. DSC also claimed the U13 Football Championship. While students from Benenden Bilingual School Guangzhou (BBSG), meanwhile, scored on the golf course!
Developing Youth Talent across The GBA
The partnership between CTFEG and the Kindervarsity Hub to support the GBA Cup reflects CTFEG’s commitment to developing young talents across the Greater Bay Area (GBA). “The GBA Cup continues to set a new standard for youth sports events in the GBA, nurturing athletic talent and fostering talent exchange. We believe that sports are essential not only for physical health but also for nurturing qualities like resilience, teamwork, and determination,” said Mrs. Jennifer Yu Cheng, Group President and Deputy Vice Chairwoman of CTFEG. “We celebrate the chance for students from all corners of the GBA to come together, compete, connect, and grow.”
