What a time for youth sports! On 25-26 November, the inaugural Greater Bay Area (GBA) Cup sponsored by CTF Education Group (CTFEG) and hosted by Benenden Bilingual School Guangzhou (BBSG), CTFEG’s strategic partner, was held for young athletes from schools across the GBA!
Talented student athletes convened on the field and the courts of BBSG’s brand new campus grounds within Panyu’s Education Hub, which spans 100,000 square metres, for the first GBA Cup.
The inaugural event drew more than 400 athletes from over 30 schools from Hong Kong, Guangzhou, Dongguan, Shenzhen, and Zhuhai, competing in basketball and football games, as well as tennis and golf matches.
The GBA Cup aims to serve as a new benchmark for all sports events promoting the development of athletic talents in the region. Its mission aligns with CTFEG’s commitment to creating talent exchange opportunities and exploring innovative approaches to integrate sports and education.
“By sponsoring the GBA Cup, we hope to foster the development of cross-border talent and cultural exchanges, enabling students in the GBA to connect through the universal language of sport in the Education Hub,” said Mrs. Jennifer Yu Cheng, Group President and Deputy Vice Chairwoman of CTFEG.
BBSG was opened in September 2023. The GBA Cup is the first large-scale sports event featuring the founding class of BBSG.
“We take pride in the commitment in promoting academic exchange and holistic education, and partnered with PacificPine Sports to co-create a high-quality competition and exchange experience for young athletes in the GBA,” said Jennifer Ma, Executive Supervisor of BBSG. “In the past two days, we have witnessed the outstanding performance, perseverance and sportsmanship of our contestants. We are so proud of everyone!”
