First-of-its-kind programme in Hong Kong to equip students from diverse backgrounds with digital skills and real-world job opportunities, fostering upward mobility
At this month’s Multicultural Day at Delia Memorial School (Hip Wo), Mrs. Jennifer Yu Cheng, Group President and Deputy Vice Chairwoman of CTF Education Group (CTFEG), announced the launch of the “EMbrace Tech for Change” pilot talent programme. In collaboration with the International Social Service Hong Kong Branch (ISS), this initiative is designed to empower students from diverse backgrounds with career-ready digital and social media skills, opening the door to future opportunities and supporting their upward mobility.
From social media marketing to video editing and content creation, “Embrace Tech for Change” is focused on empowering students from diverse backgrounds with the exposure and skills they need to thrive in today’s fast-changing digital world. It goes a step further by offering summer training, internship and even potential full-time employment after high school, paving the way for future success in the creative fields.
The first initiative of its kind in Hong Kong, “Embrace Tech for Change” also addresses an increasing demand for talent in fast growing areas such as social media marketing, video editing, and content creation.
“Together with ISS, we are taking a major step forward to support students from diverse ethnicities and backgrounds to build skills for their career development and provide opportunities for work experience in companies,” said Mrs. Jennifer Yu Cheng, Group President and Deputy Vice Chairwoman, CTF Education Group. “Through this new digital skills and career programme, we hope to ensure all unique talents have the opportunity to shine – for their own futures and for the future of Hong Kong!”
“I do believe that ‘EMbrace Tech for Change’ will ignite changes and inspire hope for our youngsters in the EM community. I want to remind our students that if they decide to follow their dreams, there will be plenty of guidance and help from us along the way,’ said Mr. Stephen Yau, GBS, MH, JP, Chief Executive of the International Social Service Hong Kong Branch.
Highlights of the new programme include:
• Teaching real-world skills in social media, digital media, and marketing
• Offering hands-on training and internship experiences through projects and mentorships
• Supporting personal and professional growth
• Stimulating creativity and building confidence
The pilot will kick off in 2025 with four secondary schools under the Delia Group of Schools, including Delia Memorial School (Broadway), Delia Memorial School (Glee Path), Delia Memorial School (Hip Wo) and Delia Memorial School (Hip Wo No. 2).
